The bezev-award is awarded yearly in order to reward outstanding scientific work in the area of "Disability and Development Cooperation" in Germany.The award ceremony usually takes place during the symposium.

NGO's (VENRO)
Disability and development cooperation is a member of the "Disability projects in developing countries" association led by the organisation of development policy of German non-Governmental organisations. Organisations such as Misereor, Handicap International, Caritas, DAHW and Kindernothilfe have found a cooperation platform in the workgroup. The common goal is to defend the interests of people with disabilities by trading experiences, cooperating on a contents level and developing marketing functions.
Taking care of people with disabilities in development cooperation is an important issue for the workgroup. One of the most important objectives achieved is the fact that people with disabilities are now being considered in an action plan of the German Government. This plan considers reducing world-wide poverty to 50% of the current level by the year 2015.
The workgroup also engages in integrating people with disabilities in all development measures under inclusive development. This is to be applied to State as well as to private development programmes.
